21 May Bird Report- Sunset
Our outing on Sunday evening included 3 kids – it is great to get the young ones excited about birds. I chose to stay in the village, checking for birds between the curling club and the train tracks on rue Pleasant/215 and on the bike path next to the park. A surprise appearance by Genevieve Hebert alerted us to the presence of the American Bittern in the field beyond the bike path and we got an excellent view and many photos. We also saw 2 beavers including one that did a tail slap! We ended our walk just as the American woodcock was beginning its display which those in the group who did not leave early had the pleasure of witnessing. The Woodcock and Bittern were the two species that I was hoping to see on this sunset walk and both were present as if they had agreed to be there!
