Bird Hike Report

A nice day at Hutopia – the weather was cool and comfortable, and the campground seemed to be at capacity. We started our walk in the lower parking lot and along the road. Birdsong wafted in on the breeze from all around us. Then we headed up the hill and I had a nice take-out coffee at the lodge at around 8:30 before we continued along the path towards the river. We got a good view of the yellow-bellied sapsucker but in general we heard much more than we saw. For example, there were Blackburnian warblers in the spruce trees about 200 meters behind the reception building and we tried to find them for about 15 minutes and only got the shortest glimpse. We had a really nice group, thanks Daniel, Chantale and Marco.
