It was a damp, foggy morning.  The ground was muddy and my fingers were cold.  Despite this, I think that the birds were happy to have a break in the rain because they were all singing!  We had seen or heard 10 species before even leaving the parking lot!

This is our first of a series of 6 Saturday morning hikes.  There were no thrushes or warblers, but just about any other bird that I would expect was singing.  Some of the highlights were a couple of chipping sparrows flying in a descending cyclone together, 3 white throated sparrows scratching at leaves 12 feet away from us, 2 deer passing through and so many perched birds singing. Sine there are no leaves yet we got a good view of many birds through out binoculars.
